Dear parent,

There are many questions that you may have around apprenticeships and whether they are right for your son or daughter.  We have compiled below a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) which we hope will address some of these questions.  However, whilst this information will answer many of the more obvious questions around what an apprenticeship is, you may want to explore the practicalities of an apprenticeship and what it will mean for your child in more detail.  If you are a parent who would like more information please contact us on 01484 429 359.  We hold open evenings throughout the year to answer parent and learner questions but we are equally delighted to speak to you on a one to one basis, to address your specific queries.  Please contact us,  We are here to help.

As is the case of all employees aged over 16, all apprentices must still pay tax and national insurance on their income.

The role of the employer is central.  An apprenticeship cannot be succesfully completed without the involvement and support of the employer. At the outset your employer will give the apprentice with an induction into the company and their role. They will provide on-the-job training and they will pay the apprentice's wages. Each apprentice will have a supervisor at work who will be responsible for helping them throughout their training and participating in regular Learner Reviews undertaken by Woodspeen. We will assess the apprentice in the workplace and provide additional teaching and support in functional and occupational skills to help the apprentice complete their framework succesfully.
